- All casinos still offer free drinks if you're gambling, but you're right, they're experimenting with ways to tie the 'comps' to your player account, reduce the number of free drinks to non-gamblers, etc. Strip best bets in my experience is putting a $20 in a bar poker machine anywhere or playing craps at Cromwell.
- Drink For FreeKinda. Okay, so you’ll never get free drinks in Las Vegas. However, drinks on most casino floors are complimentary. The kicker is that you need to be gambling to get some. Just be sure to tip your waitress well and the free drinks will be flowing. Ethel M Chocolate Factory.

A visit to Las Vegas typically gets better once you’ve got a drink in hand. Make sure to skip those boozy slushies and enjoy the very best of what Las Vegas has to offer, whether on or off the Strip.
Long Island Iced Tea: Whether ordering in a casino bar or nightclub, a Long Island Iced Tea costs between $15-23, making it the best bang for your buck. Served tall with tequila, vodka, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a just a splash of sweet and sour plus cola, this heavyweight packs plenty of punch.
Cosmopolitan: Best remembered from its regular appearance on Sex and the City, this vodka-cranberry classic is the perfect compliment to another ladies classic in Vegas — the little black dress. The sweet and sassy cocktail is found (unsurprisingly) at bars throughout the Cosmopolitan.
The Barrymore: Tucked inside the Royal Resort near the north end of the Strip, The Barrymore is a true hidden gem in Las Vegas. Its signature cocktail is like a cross between a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned, made with Gentlemen Jack, blood orange liqueur, and orange marmalade.
Flight of Icarus: A few servings of this exotic variation on the Caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, will almost certainly have you trying to fly toward the sun. Find it at Vesper at the Cosmopolitan.
Pink Flamingo Punch: Nothing says vacation like sipping this combo of Absolut Elyx, sparkling wine, dry vermouth, Aperol, strawberry syrup, and lemon juice in a flamingo-shaped decanter from Skyfall Cocktail Lounge on the 64th floor of the Delano.
The Painkiller: Head to Chinatown where the Golden Tiki serves up plenty of kitsch and rum-fueled cocktails. The Painkiller, first created in the British Virgin Islands back in the 70s, is given a makeover with a heavy dose of Pusser’s Rum, tropical fruit juices, coconut cream, fresh-ground nutmeg, and a dollop of Dole Whip, a frozen pineapple treat that was once only available at Disneyland.
Holland House: Almost like a tart Martini, the Holland House blends subtle lemon and cherry flavors with Bols Genever, a Dutch spirit similar to gin. It’s prepared perfectly at Herbs & Rye, an off-Strip industry clubhouse where other bartenders in Vegas go when off the clock.
Yardbird Old Fashioned: It’s no surprise that a Southern-style restaurant like Yardbird has a killer bourbon selection — including five takes on an Old Fashioned. Start with the house version, made with bacon-infused Wild Turkey 81, and continue from there.
Rum Swizzle: With a drink program put together by famed mixologist Tony Abou Ganim, you know any cocktail at Libertine Social is going to be good. Have fun with one of four swizzles that can be prepared tableside in a pitcher. The rum cocktail is churned by hand in crushed ice with a swizzle stick.
Mai Tai: You’ve probably had a sugary watered down version of a Mai Tai in a plastic cup somewhere, but to have one made right, venture to Rosina at the Palazzo — a haven for classic cocktails. The rum-based drink is served with crushed ice and a mint as garnish in a spooky Tiki-style glass that resembles a human skull.
Smoky Negroni: The smoky cocktail trend has been around for years at Hakkasan Restaurant inside the MGM Grand. The Smoky Negroni puts a new spin on the gin and Campari concoction with a Grand Marnier smoke infusion.
Moscow Mule: You’ll find a Moscow Mule on nearly any drink menu in Las Vegas, but it’s worth a trip to the Downtown Container Park to try one of nine variations by Oak & Ivy. The bar uses its own house-made ginger beer to give this (usually) vodka-based cocktail a crisp finish.
The Penicillin: The Dorsey is a sophisticated social spot with a drink menu curated by acclaimed New York mixologist Sam Ross. It includes his signature cocktail, The Penicillin, made with Scotch, lemon, ginger, and a touch of honey.
Verbena: Sometimes the coolest drinks are off the menu. Visit the middle level of the three-story Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan and ask for the Verbena, in which a mixture of tequila, ginger, and lemon is topped with an edible flower that when consumed, changes the taste of the cocktail itself.
Water: The last thing you might plan to drink in Vegas is the most important. The dry climate, summer heat, and excessive alcohol consumption makes hydration a key component of any night out — even if you have to buy a $1 bottle from a street vendor while wandering down the Strip.

After visiting Las Vegas 6 times in 2.5 years, I’ve compiled a list of 15 things not to miss in Las Vegas. There is something about the city that is so magical to me. I love the lights, action, and energy the nightlife brings, and I love the picture perfect weather, no humidity, and sunshine during the day. My love for Vegas began the second I stepped into McCarran Airport for our wedding weekend. You can check out our destination wedding post here. So the next time you are heading to Sin City check these 15 things not to miss in Las Vegas off your list.
1. Get a Rainbow Latte
You must try a Rainbow latte. I came across this place on Pinterest, and this is one of my favorite finds. Now I have to return each time we go because it’s that good. Sambalatte is located near the Monte Carlo Resort. It is the cutest coffee shop with endless options for lattes including the famous rainbow art latte and Nutella latte. Jon and I both enjoyed the taste, atmosphere, and vibe of this place. We sat outside on the patio since it was so nice out that morning. I’m a sucker for unique coffee cups, so this place ranked even higher on my list with their large, bright cups full of heaven.

2. Visit Topgolf at MGM Grand
There’s a Topgolf popping up in every major city. We’ve even heard that Myrtle Beach is getting one soon. Normally I would recommend non-chains or an activity that you can find elsewhere. However, Topgolf in Vegas is something to see. It is a multiple level playground with entertainment on each floor including a rooftop pool. Of course, all the cool places in Vegas have pool parties. It also has the best views of the strip. We had a fun time during the day here. It was crowded, and we had quite the wait, but there was plenty to do to pass the time. I’m planning to return to either a pool party or a nighttime visit to see the las vegas strip glowing in the background.
3. Catch Happy Hour on the High Roller
The High Roller is the w0rld’s tallest observation wheel which you can find towering over the Las Vegas Strip. It is a must-see while in Vegas. I would love to have the chance to catch a ride during the sunset. The sunsets are amazing in Vegas and would be even more beautiful from the High Roller standpoint. We were lucky enough to receive free tickets to the High Roller cabin with an indoor bar. My champagne tasted even better looking at the glittering lights from 55o ft above the Strip.
4. Try your luck at the Casino Royale
Okay, let’s be real here. This place is by far the least glamorous place in Vegas. However, they offer the cheapest table games around. I’m not a high roller when it comes to gambling. Actually, I hate gambling. I could think of 20 other things I could buy with my money. See Las Vegas is not all about gambling. I actually have the worst anxiety when it comes to losing my hard earned money. My hubby, on the other hand, loves the thrill of the game, and he loves when I play with him. We came across this hole in the wall casino that had a $1 minimal for table games. That is unheard of in Vegas. I can actually sit there for hours on $40 bucks and not feel guilty about it. It’s all about the experience and has become a tradition for us.
Ps: you are not allowed to take photographs in the casino, but sometimes we like to break the rules.
5. Dine while watching the Bellagio Fountains
Everyone has the Bellagio Fountains on their “Vegas Must Do” list. It is definitely a spectacle to see. Dining at a restaurant with views of the fountains allows a different perspective and multiple shows in one sitting. This past year we dined and viewed the fountains at Giada at The Cromwell Hotel. The service and food here were top notch, and the vibe at Cromwell is one of my favorites in Vegas. I’ve also heard Lago at the Bellagio is another great restaurant to view the fountain show.
6. Have Brunch on the Strip
I highly recommend eating on the patio at Hexx Kitchen + Bar for good food and better people watching. Jon’s top pick for brunch is a restaurant Off The Strip located at The LINQ. He loves the steak and eggs and the numerous TVs showing Sportscenter. I have a lot of other Brunch spots on my list but most places we have attempted to eat at have a 2+ hour wait. Some of these include The Pantry at the Mirage and Della’s Kitchen at Delano. We have also attempted to eat at Hash Hash A Go Go located at The LINQ hotel, but the wait was ridiculous. So, the last time we were in Orlando we had brunch at their Hash Hash A Go Go, and it was very filling with the huge portions but yummy to say the least.
7. Attend a Pool Party
Vegas is known for pool parties, so partaking in one is a must. Jon and I have been to Marquee at The Cosmopolitan, Go Pool at Flamingo and Tao Beach at Venetian. We always have a great time at every pool, but the best bang for your buck hands down goes to Tao Beach. Renting a daybed will run you around $300 on the weekends but this price goes towards food and drinks. It’s definitely one of the best deals we have found.
8. Ride the Voodoo Zipline at The Rio Hotel
One night in Vegas we had dinner at the Voodoo Steakhouse which is located on the 50th floor of The Rio Hotel. I’m still dreaming about the lobster mac and cheese. The Rio Hotel is off from the strip which from up above gives amazing views of the strip. After dinner, we decided to be spontaneous and ride the Voodoo Zipline 800 ft in the air. So wish we would have splurged on those pictures. It’s worth the visit just for the views alone.
9. Dance the night away at OMNIA
Leo vegas slots. If you are into the nightlife scene, then you must check OMNIA off your list of dance clubs. This place is something to see. But be ready to wait in a long line and spend some change. I’ve never seen so many people waiting to get into a club. We were lucky enough to skip the line and get free admission. It has an outdoor lounge with breath taking views of the strip. The multilevel facility surrounds a giant moving chandelier that descends from the ceiling to the beat of the music.
10. Explore the Hotels
Jon and I often love walking the entire strip going in and out of each hotel. I am a lover of anything themed, and Vegas is full of themes. Each resort holds true to its theme and carries it through the pools and restaurants. On a typical day of exploring the resorts, we will easily walk 20+ miles that day. So not only are you enjoying a wonderful day on the strip but burning calories too. Some of my favorite themed hotels are New York New York, Paris, Planet Hollywood, The Cosmopolitan, The Wynn and The Mirage (Vegas Vacation, anyone?).
11. Have fun at the Stratosphere Hotel
The stratosphere is an iconic hotel that I always look for when we are landing in Vegas. It stands tall at over 1,000 feet in the air. The hotel has 4 thrill rides 100 stories up, an observation deck and a rotating restaurant. Jon, my FIL and I rode the Big Shot ride which is the ride attached to a tower 100 stories above the hotel. The ride shoots you up and then drops and continues this for 30 seconds. I will say it was amazing views of the strip, but I’m not sure I would ride it again.
12. Get a Blowout at Drybar
Drybar is probably my favorite place in Vegas. I love a good blowout and hate washing my hair. This place is perfection. The whole branding and layout of the salon are amazing. It’s clean, crisp and oh so inviting, and some nights they even have a DJ. I always begin the experience with a Sin City Fizz or a glass of champs. There is nothing like getting pampered at this establishment. No matter what style you choose, you will love your look. Oh yeah, don’t forget to document your new do at their photo booth. You can find this fabulous place inside the shops at Planet Hollywood.
13. Have Dessert at The Chandelier Bar
After getting your blowout, walk across the street to The Cosmopolitan. This is by far my favorite resort in Vegas. It’s modern, glitzy and so glamorous. We love having a happy hour or after dinner drinks at The Chandelier Bar. The perfect place to show off a fancy outfit and fresh blowout. Their chocolate martinis are extra good too.

14. See A Show in Viva Las Vegas
Seeing a show in Vegas is a given, but picking the right one can be challenging. Jon and I have watched KA, Legends in Concert, “O” and Le Rêve. We absolutely adored Le Rêve (which means “The Dream” in French) at The Wynn. This aquatic show is breathtaking. All of the seats seem amazing but don’t sit too close to the front or you will get wet.
15. Visit Fremont Street
Everyone who comes to Las Vegas needs to taxi to “Old Vegas” for the Fremont Street Experience. It is definitely an experience and even better people watching. Walking around Fremont will take you back in time to the historic Vegas. You can visit the Golden Nugget, zip line on the slotzilla, gaze at the light show, listen to live music, watch street performers and partake in some cheap gambling. This 24-hour hot spot is one not to miss.

Must-Have Travel Items for Vegas
Shows In Las Vegas 2018
- Portable Phone Charger
- A portable phone charger is a must-have travel item especially during long flights or long days exploring the city. It’s small and powerful, and it has been a lifesaver for me on many trips.
- Liquid IV
- These packets travel easily and are like drinking three bottles of water at one time to keep you hydrated. It’s important to stay hydrated after a long flight and while being in the desert.
- Hydrating Primer
- Vegas is very dry which is great for my hair, but it can be a problem for my combination skin. This primer is amazing and keeps my face dewy in the desert sun.
- Hydrating Lipstick
- I’ve recently discovered this amazing lip balm that gives a great matte color while hydrating your lips.
